Shark Bait Makes It to Malekula and Tanna/ Hard Weeks Make You Stronger/ What Doesn't Kill You Makes You Stronger... Except for Bears.. Bears will Kill You ;)

Dearest Family and Friends!!! Hey, you lovely people! Did you know that you all are just about my favorite people on planet Earth?! I am grateful for each and everyone of you and pray the Lord's blessings to continually flow to you. 

I am sorry to inform you that this email will more than likely be the only one I get out to you. It will be also kept somewhat short. It's been insanely busy. And I won't lie. I am pretty exhausted! Things look like they might finally slow down next week. So, I will have more time to get personal emails out to you. Excited for it! Sorry, if I haven't gotten to you in a bit. Next week!! Crossed fingers! 

Well, this week had been fantastic. I won't lie by saying it was easy. I had a hard time this week because I ended up with the stomach flu/what maybe looks like Food Poisoning? Not sure. All I know is it involved a lot of lost lunches. More on that later, but I had some great help. Dad has always told me to wear out my knees. And I had to do that a few times throughout this week. It is  amazing what a difference is made after we pour our hearts in prayer. 

I promise through our Faith in Our Savior Jesus Christ  we can always find comfort. Our Father Loves us. He Lives! I testify the words of our prophet Russel M. Nelson, "Something powerful happens when a child of God seeks to know more about Him and His Beloved Son." Through some hard times this week I decided to really turn to prayer and to words of living Prophets and Disciples. I was reminded of one of my favorite talks in General Conference labeled, "Am I a Child of God?" I wanted to share quick thoughts of things I felt and learned.  

Elder Brian K. Taylor stated, "Learning of and following the Savior helps us come to know the Father." How amazing this truth is! Elder Hable said something pretty cool the other day. He reminded me in the scriptures it says that Christ does not do anything that he did not first see The Father do. Pretty neat comment! 

Another quote, "I love the God of my Fathers, the Lord God Almighty, who weeps with us in our sorrows, patiently chastens our unrighteousness, and rejoices when we seek to give away all our sins to know him. I worship Him, who is ever a father of the fatherless and a companion to the companionless. Gratefully, I testify that I have come to know God, my Father, and bear witness of the perfections, attributes, and excellency of His Character." 

I testify and am happy to proudly and bodily testify that the Father of our Souls does live. He loves us. He loves His perfect son who so perfectly provided an Atonement in which we can receive mercy and more of His Love. We have so much. Yes, I know the trials are hard. But I really learned this week more about how Our Perfect Father truly weeps when he sees our sorrows. He wants us to be happy! So choose to be happy by following His commandments. You and I will not be perfect. But it is so great how we can just leave all our weaknesses at our Savior's feet. He will lighten our loads. 

To my parents I especially want you to know you are doing great. I know it has not always been easy to raise us kids. I want you to know though because of your sacrifice I have gained a further testimony of this gospel. I have been able to (through The Lord) help many people here in Vanuatu. It is all credit to YOU. To all parents everywhere... You are awesome. You are doing better than you think and are Savior's on Mount Zion. May the Lord continue to bless you. I challenge you all to read the Book of Mormon more which testifies of Christ so simply that a child could understand. As you read it more you will come to know The Father and The Son Better. 

This week we went to the islands of Malekula and Tanna to meet the missionaries with President and work with the Priesthood. If I had not gone on a rant before I would have more time to talk about it. Basic summary. The people were so kind welcoming us with open arms and flower necklaces. I got sick in Tanna and was throwing up most the time. I was able to recover but we missed out on Solomon Island trip. The Malekula trip was amazing. These people in some cases literally have nothing. Yet they are so happy. They have such a desire to serve and build the church of Our God. I am amazed and truly humbled. I also was able to count my blessings as I provided President with Bislama translation. A language I thought I never thought I would be able to communicate in ... ever.. is one I have now had the ability to help my Mission President with. The Lord is good. And all things are possible through Him. Trust in God my dear friends and family.. He will provide.

Before I close out I want to say thank you. Thank you for everything. This week really was hard. When I was having a hard time two really great things happened. I got a wonderful email from my little sister Vivie and two really amazing letters:) Month made! One of the letters of support really gave a great quote I too wanted to share. It states (By Robert D. Hales) "Jesus Christ did come. He did live. And He will Come Again." No matter if you are going through something rough just don't forget... The Savior will come again! Have no worries!

Busy Times For Shark Bait/ Prayers Heard/ Disciples 4 Ever/ Shark Bait Attempts French

 Dearest Family And Friends, How Great it is to once again take this opportunity to email you. Before I go further, I must explain that times have never been busier. Helping Président Duquette is definitely what the Lord needs of both Elder Hable and I right now, but it is time consuming and honestly exhausting. We are happy to do it but I won't lie to you, it's kind of hard! Like my Dad taught me though, I can do hard things! :) This transition Assistant stuff has built up a little stress and has made me a little nervous. President Granger taught me how to deal with stress. Boy do I love The Grangers. They sure are missed! A Missionary, who is definitely one of my role models, gave me some council. I quote, " Busy is good! Nerves are good, they mean something great is about to happen! The Lord does see more than we do." Aren't I so blessed? So many are helping me! 

This transition stuff has made it hard to email this week. And will make next week hard too. I will do my best to get this one out to you, but I am more than certain this is all I will have time for. So, if you don't get an email from me, I want you to know, I still love you all. I am very busy! Happy to be busy, but it does take its tole. You know you are working hard and enjoying life when you're exhausted! I am sure after next week I will be able to get out more emails. Don't forget I love you! 

How do I even begin to explain all the incredible things, which have occurred through this extremely important, busy, yet amazing week? As my Mom always says, "Hold on to your socks!" Here we go! 

Tuesday was Président's First, "Meet The Missionaries Experience" in the island of Efate. Elder Hable and I made sure everything went as perfect as we could. Boy, just that one was hard work! We managed to make things run smooth and be able to listen to what Président Duquette shared. The spirit in that chapel was unreal. It taught me a great deal, and testified to my soul again the truthfulness of this Gospel that we teach. As well as the fact that Président Duquette is who The Lord has called. Because he is from Canada I thought it was hilarious he shared a story which involved a moose. He said while in Canada he saw a sign about a railroad which made the following statement something like this: "It's Not the Railroads Fault if Attacking Mosse slows down the trains." Basically, Most think they are all that in a bag of chips and charge trains. Known for there large size but I am not sure how large there brain really is. Président Duquette related this to our own lives. Do we not listen to our companions/warnings of the spirit (for those of you who are not serving a mission... Holy Ghost/Tabu Spirit counts as your companion) and charge for the train. We ahould be humble and have a soft heart as President Granger always taught me! 

Wednesday we flew to New Caledonia with the Duquettes and the Area 70 Elder Jorgensen who reminds me a lot of Uncle Brian. I enjoyed making jokes with him and talking about missionary experiences. I now know why past preisthood leaders always talk about their missions. They are pretty cool:) Anyway, the entire "Meet The Missionaries" in New Caledonia was in French. I didn't understand mostly everything. For those that know me well you know I am a stubborn dude... I mean Elder. Just because I didn't know how to do most things did not stop me from singing hymns in French, taking notes, and attempting to participate. During all of "The Meet The Missionaries" the Duquettes would have everyone stand up and introduce themselves, explain what our native language is, and when we were baptized. Everyone of course was explaining this in French and then it came to my turn. It explains their face when I stood up and managed to get out (in my broken French), "Je m'appelle Elder LaMont. Je parle anglais. Je me suis fait baptisé à láge de huit ons." Thank goodness Elder Hable helps me a lot! Everyone started clapping and cheering me on for probably the worst French spoken that day. Then Sister Duquette gave me a "bones." After the traning Sister Duquette came up to me and said she was impressed of my efforts to participate and learn French. It sure meant a lot to me. I do have a pretty legit study plan in morning and a cool companion who answers many many questions. Poor kid! Not sure I will ever speak French fluently (I would guess not) but I have come a long way. Don't give up if something is hard. You can do hard things!! :) I learned that in dance and from my Dad. 

MIRACLES do happen!!! We saw Sam! My prayers are answered! If you prayed for Sam too thank you. Thought you should know your prayers were answered as well! Thank you for any prayers my way. I feel their power and support. Love you all!  About the only day we were not in a plane or in the Office was Sunday. We were just walking around our area exhausted and then Sam literally ran out of nowhere and said he felt super sorry he couldn't see us for about two weeks now. He just said he had been really busy. Then with a smile he excitedly set another appointment with us. Then he headed towards the Kava Bar...Slap in the face... We have a lot of hard work to do but we are making progress and The Lord answered our prayers. The Lord truly does hear your prayers. I testify with every part of my might, mind, and soul this is true. We have been able to work with some return missionaries on the only day we had to work in area. It was amazing! Always include members in missionary work. It saddens me when I think of how much I could have done back at home. Don't be afraid to share the Gospel! Do all you can my dear family and friends. 

Dad!!! Thank you for updates!! You are so cool! Love all of my family! So great to hear of your success. Tausha is expecting a baby??? What?? Congratulations!! On P-Day we stopped at one of our favorite restaurants and they were playing Belgium vs. Brazil....to say the least we ate slow... Literally watched De Brunye score (I jumped up...hehe I am a fan) To justify, we found a man from Uganda we contacted the other day with his cute little boy. He is reading the Book of Mormon we gave him and we will give him as a referral to the sisters because he is in their area. In my opinion, I felt it was The Lord slightly saying, "Yeah it was okay you ate slow to watch some soccer." LOL! :) 

Hey! One more time know I love you all. I appreciate all you are doing for the Lord and me. Keep being awesome People!!!

Dearest Family and Friends!! Yet another exciting week in Paradise we can recap together! 

I am truly blessed. I may not have the strongest testimony in the world but it is something I have personally gained! I gained it through the Love of The Holy Ghost which comes from A Loving Father in Heaven who helps us through His Son's Perfect Atonement. What an amazing truth. I know They Live without a shadow of a doubt. I would die for this great knowledge! For it is true! 

"I Stand All Amazed at The Love Jesus Offers Me. Confused at The grace that so fully he profers me. I tremble to know that for me he was crucified. That for me a sinner he bled and died. Oh, it is wonderful that he should care for me enough to die for me. Oh it is wonderful, wonderful to me!"  Beautiful words of a beloved hymn. I testify Jesus did in fact die for us. He then conquered death through His Resurrection and extends his mercy to us always. He Lives! I truly, Stand All Amazed. 

God does hear our Prayers. Press Forward. You can do all things through Him! I Love You All More than you know. Keep being awesome. Thank you so much for your wonderful updates and emails, which help me so much!

A miracle I would like to share!! A tender mercy from A Loving Father In Heaven. We have found an investigator named Sam. Through a feeling that my companion had while walking on the road. He looked as if he would never listen to us. The smell of weed and the large Kyle Beckerman Dreds made it a little strange when Elder Hable said he felt like we should talk to him. We did it! And it has been a miracle. We meet with him for a little bit and left him with a Restoration Pamphlet. When we returned he did something I had never ever seen in Vanuatu before. He read the pamphlet, and then wrote answers to questions that test your understanding at the end. Elder Hable exchanged glances of amazement and absolute awe. We had the most powerful lesson. It was lead by his questions, he shared his thoughts, and the spirit filled our hearts. I wish you all could have been there. The Lord has prepared many to hear Our Word. It is up to us to go find them. 

Sam is currently been avoiding us after this amazing experience. It hurts my heart. I wish he would remember what we learned together. I hate the evil substances, which lure him away from the out stretched arms of His Savior. Who is all of ours personal Savior, even Jesus Christ! I feel as if there are many arms of the adversary and temptation, which try and grab him. However, Elder Hable and I won't give up on him. Yes, there are many evil arms or influences, which wish to grab him. But like the great missionary Ammon, Elder Hable and I will cut the arms off of our enemies for the protection of our brothers. I won't give up on Sam. I ask, if you have a small moment pray for him. I love him. I have felt just a small portion of The love God The Father has for him. He is our brother. Oh, how I wish he would have another lesson with us. 

My strugges with Sam remind me of some scriptures. The first being: Alma 26: 30 "And we have suffered all manner of afflictions, and all this, that perhaps we might be the means of saving some soul; and we supposed that our joy would be full if perhaps we could be the means of saving some." Our struggles are sometimes hard as members of the church, especially when we try and share the Gospel. Don't give up! We can do this. Share the Gospel with all you can. You have more power and influence than you know. Share it! Get passionate! 

I know now what Alma meant in Chapter 29 of Alma stating,  "O that I were an angel, and could have the wish of mine heart, that I might go forth and speak with the trump of God, with a voice to shake the earth, and cry repentance unto every people!

 Yea, I would declare unto every soul, as with the voice of thunder, repentance and the plan of redemption, that they should repent and come unto our God, that there might not be more sorrow upon all the face of the earth.

 But behold, I am a man, and do sin in my wish; for I ought to be content with the things which the Lord hath allotted unto me

My dear friends and family. Do all you can to share this great Gospel. It is true! 

This is the last week we get with President and Sister Granger. My heart is full of gratitude for The Lord for what time I had with the Grangers. They are amazing. I don't know if they will ever know just how much I Love Them. They truly taught me the importance of 3 Nephi 18: 31-32. The importance of the individual. They personally brought me closer to The Master. I had the opportunity to do one last special assignment for President Granger with Elder Hable. We drove to Paonangisu and checked on some Missionary Homes. We took a few moments to view the amazing scenery around us. It gave me an opportunity to use my manual driving ability which I learned here in the field! It is incredible all I am learning. Paoanangisu is about an hour drive on the other side of the island of Efate! 

I had the opportunity to meet Président Duquette and Sister Duquette. They are FANTASTIC! I love them already! They have expressed that they love The Lord and excited to do all they can to serve in this great calling of Mission President and wife. There is a fire in Président Duquette's eyes. He is ready and I am willing to help him with anything as his Assistant and a missionary entrusted in his care by The Lord. He reminds me of Dad... Partially because he is bald and he gave me a couple of winks... Which if you know my wonderful Father is some of my favorite attributes about him. One of the first things Président Duquette said to me went something like this, "Elder LaMont!! How are you?! Wow! You two are sharp looking Elders. Are you the one who loves jerseys?" So... I guess he is aware of my love of Soccer already.... And my love for soccer jerseys.... I am going to ask him if he is an Impact Fan, Dad because he is from Montréal, Canada !

Saying Goodbye To My Australian Parents

I shed quite a few tears to watch my amazing dear friends The Grangers go back home. The Lord has called them back to Australia. They will forever be in my hearts. They gave me a Aboriginal Boomerang to remember them by. I LOVE THEM!! 

I am ready however to fully support Président Duquette. My Loyalty is first and always to The Lord then to the Mission President (which is Président Duquette) then to my companion Elder Hable. 

I am so thankful that The Lord gave me time with the Grangers ❤❤❤So excited to work with the Duquettes and countinually and always The Master Jesus Christ.

Jesus Loves You/ The Ground Dances/ Farewell To President and Sister Granger is Close Now/ Shark Bait Lives Another Week!

Dearest Friends and Family!! How are you? Did you know I love you? I do hope so! How grateful I am for each and every one of you. I wish I could better express the Love I have for you! May the Lord bless you for your righteous hearts. Know Our Father In Heaven loves you. 

Yes! This week we had the opportunity to witness a 6.1 Earthquake here in Port Vila! We are safe and happy. It is incredible to see the amazing power of Mother Earth. Elder Hable and I were planning our day when everything started o shake like I have never felt before. We both looked at each other with the same look of amazement and fear. It was Awesome! Our Fridge and the apartment floor began to dance like me during Cha-Cha!! Sorry if I worried you at all. Still in one piece and loving life!! :) 

This week has been fantastic for me! Yes. It has indeed been hard and challenging. But I have grown and developed more love. Love for Our Father In Heaven, Jesus Christ, His Gospel, and for the people here. President Granger will no longer be our President, as Président Duquette will come this week! Life is going so fast! Because it is the last week of President Granger he told us he wanted to go out and work with us. He got about 500 Pass Along Cards and told Elder Hable and I, "We are going to handout everyone of these. And we won't come back until they are all gone!"

 It was a fantastic experience as we did all we could to talk with anyone we came in contact with. Probably the most memorable person I talked to was not who I was expecting. A white Australian Lady. I offered her a Pass Along Card saying, "Hey! Would you like to learn more about Jesus!?" I would like to add that this was one of the only people I spoke English to. She responded with, "Are you a Mormon?" Me: "Yeah!!" Her: "Well, what do you know about Jesus?? Take your card back. I will only teach the true things of Christ." A little hurt and shocked I quickly thought of the most Christ like I could say. All I managed as she stormed off was, "Well, Jesus Loves You!" The Lady continued her trotting off without a second thought. And then the spirit warmed my soul. And told me what I simply taught was true. Before my mission, I would have nothing good to say about this woman. Now, I can't help and think, Jesus loves her. He loves me. He loves you. He loves us all. What a great Eternal truth this is! I am so thankful for what the spirit taught me during this experience! Christ will always have open arms toward us! 

Here are some thoughts I had during discussions with my companion, scripture study, and prayer. Just some thoughts I wanted to share because when we know something/when you feel The Lord reveals something to you; you should share it! First. The Mission Field is truly the "MTC For Life." Let's start with some basic components of missionary work. Companions. How important are companions? What does The Lord want to teach his missionaries through companions? I think the basic principle of how we are so desperately in need of support of Eternal companions, and the continual support of a Loving Father in Heaven, through his valiant Son's Atonement. We need companions. From the age of 8 and on we need the companionship of The Holy Ghost. He guides, protects, and shows the love of God The Father and of The Savior Jesus Christ. We cannot progress without the Savior. We need the support and strength that comes though Christ's Atonement. We learn and I testify that we cannot go farther than the eternal Light of That Precious Atonement shines. We need it. We can't do this alone. One of my favorite chapters in The Book of Mormon is Alma 26. Two verses I feel inspired to share come from verses 11 and 12, which state, 

"11 But Ammon said unto him: I do not boast in my own strength, nor in my own wisdom; but behold, my joy is full, yea, my heart is brim with joy, and I will rejoice in my God.

12 Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever.

We really need the companionship of the Savior, which comes through the Holy Ghost. Lastly, God The Father teaches in His Holy Temples of the importance of Eternal Marriage. How about that?? Another companion!? Yes. We are taught that we cannot progress, and even obtain all God has, even Exaltation without a companion. This means what? That even God The Father the greatest of all needs a companion. We do have a Mother who I know Loves Us. We do not speak of these things often not because they are secrets. But because they are sacred. You are a precious son or daughter of Loving Heavenly Parents. They want you to be happy not just now but For ETERNITY!! This is why we are taught these things. We need companions. And that is what I believe God is trying to teach those of us who are in the Mission Field. We must work in unity. Cool thought huh!? Wanted to also share 2 Nephi 22:2. How much do you Love The Savior? How do you show it to others?

P.S. Dad! Thank you so much for keeping me a little updated on The World Cup. It is fun to know things because first off, I love it! Second, it actually comes in handy while contacting. No joke! The people of Vanuatu are my kind of people! They are so excited for the World Cup and it so on everyone's lips! Honestly, by the end of two years maybe all of my family and friends should just come here. I love it here with all my heart! 

So, we had our last Zone Conference and we learned a tribal dance from Gaua (island in Vanuatu) to perform for President and Sister Granger! It was awesome! I really got into it! More ZC photos! Allez Les Bleus ! Go France! Vive La France !  I serve in the most beautiful place in all of the world! 

I also pulled some more money for gift for President and Sister Granger.. Hope it was okay. Small gift! As well as money for France jersey. Still looking to maybe purchasing a small suitcase because we will be traveling a lot with Président Duquette very soon. Love you all!!

Shark Bait's First Trip to Santo/ World Cup Fever Father's Day

Dad, I wanted to start out by saying I love you. Happy Father's Day!!! Thinking about you a lot especially as awesome members keep me updated on World Cup. Germany lost to Mexico?! How is France?? GO ICELAND, FRANCE, AND BELGIUM!!! Love you Dad. 

Hello beautiful family and friends! It is the time once again to write to you! How the time is going by so fast, and I wish I could make it slow down.. However, I am happy to report things are still amazing in this glorious part of the world! It has been a hard-working, miracle/adventure filled, and exhausting week for Elder Hable and I! Really could have not gone better for us here in Paradise. 

The first part of the week Elder Hable, The Grangers, and I flew to Santo. For those who don't know, Santo (or it's full name Espritaro Santo meaning Holy Ghost) is another island here in Vanuatu. It was about an hour flight from our island of Efate. We immediately got off our plane and got to the chapel to be a part of the last Zone Conference the Granger's will have in Santo. I will admit that plane travel is exhausting... But in no way am I complaining. I only wish you could see what I am able to witness. This Assistant Work can be really tough since we are still trying to have success in our area in Vila but the traveling is fantastic! The Zone Conference in Santo went really well! We are hoping to inspire and uplift this part of the mission because it has recently been struggling. Elder Hable and I reminded them of  the divine potential we all have as well as our sacred calling to Invite Others to Come Unto Christ. The Spirit guided our words and helped us during our trainings. It was Legit! 

I don't know if it helped the Zone but it sure helped me remember something pretty important. I am a Son of God. Have you taken a moment to ponder on this wonderful truth?!?! You are a daughter or son of a Living Heavenly Father. Your true home is not here. Do you sometimes imagine our Heavenly Parents holding us in Their arms hoping through faith and love we would return to them one day? How great this True Gospel Is! We should never forget where we come from. I am certain if we take more time to ponder where are souls are from we would be less likely to think mean things about ourselves, put ourselves down, or think less of our special self’s. Don't let the adversary use this trick. You are special. I encourage you to read my favorite hymn.

Something really awesome happened on the plane back to Vila from Santo. A man across from Elder Hable and I (from Australia) started asking us questions. His first one being, "Wow. Boys. Do you iron your shirts and pants everyday? Why do you do that? How young did you say you were again?"

My answer: "Shirt, yes! :) My Momma taught me how to iron a shirt! We would love to answer your questions!" One question lead to another and then he asked, "So, does your faith believe in the trinity?" We knew we had him after that question :) . We taught him The Restoration, answered his questions, and gave him a Book of Mormon while in the sky! He loved it and said he is very excited to read the Book of Mormon! My Mission is pretty awesome! I have taught people in boats and now in planes... That was the first time I have taught a white man in English though... Crazy times! The Lord really blessed us with this experience to remind us that although we have our Assistant assignment our calling to Invite Others To Come Unto Christ remains! 

We also went to New Caledonia later in the week for President and Sister Granger's last ZC there. Because it is a little colder and they speak French it provided me an opportunity to wear my jumper and speak some French. I'm getting sort of better! I had my first lesson in French, which was so legit!! My French is still pretty bad but I like to think of something a missionary I look up to greatly told me, "We all have to start somewhere." I'll get there if it is The Lord's Will. If I still can't express my Love for this beautiful people in the amazing tongue of French I'll just use my body language to show love and testify (somehow) of Christ. All things are possible through God and Faith. Mosiah 8:18, "Thus God has provided a means that man, through faith, might work mighty miracles; therefore he becometh a great benefit to his fellow beings." 

My family! How great it is to hear of your success and happiness! Mom and Dad enjoying the garden and helping with this awesome new cabin. Keaton becoming friends with Rafiki the kitten and being a stud to our sisters/ being with his awesome girlfriend Luci a.k.a. JEPPSEN!! Claire rocking out hard work on the ACT and driving abilities and showing that not only is she beautiful on the outside but also the inside. And sweet Vivie speaking on Sacrament Meeting. It was a beautiful talk Vivie, and I bet you delivered it with such energy and spirit much like everything you do! Dearest friends and other loved ones, how grateful I am to receive your emails of encouragement. I know I don't always have time to respond to you individually but I hope you know of my love! I love every email I get. Thank you! Much love to you!
